Castles of Northeast Italy
Included here are a selection of castles in the regions of Veneto, Trentino, Alto Adige, And Friuli
Castel Beseno
If we were to make a list of our top-ten castles of Italy, Beseno would likely be on it.

this sprawling fortress on top of a bluff catches the eye, especially at night as you drive the A-22 autostrada between Trento and Verona.

Upon closer inspection, the castle is every bit as impressive as it seems from a distance.
Castello di Avio
Another wonderful castle near the A-22 on the road to trento, Avio is smaller than Beseno, and equally worth a visit. There is a bit of a hike up from the parking lot, though it is not difficult.

Soave is a wonderful castle and town from many perspectives.

1. It is very reachable from the Autostrada....just one stop east of Verona.

2. It is a perfect example of a castle whose walls completely embrace the accompanying village.

3. It offers multiple ring walls, living spaces that help you understand life here as a military fort.

4. speaking from experience, it's a fun place to take a family, both for the castle and the town.
Marostica, Veneto
Marostica, famed for its biennial live-action chess competitions, is dominated by a wonderful lower and upper castle, both joined by the encircling walls of the town.

Constructed by the Scaligero family of Verona in the 14th Century.
Gorizia Castle, Friuli
Gorizia Castle, very near the Italian border with Slovenia, is a wonderfully-preserved fortress, and very enjoyable to visit.
