Eating in Italy/North: Liguria

La Spezia:
Antica Osteria da Caran

We were directed to this restaurant by a local from La Spezia.  We were not disappointed.  It offers local and traditional Italian cuisine.  We will return there again!

Via Genova 1, La Spezia

Open every day except Wednesday noon -3 and 7 pm - 11 pm

Camogli:
Focacceria

This is probably the best focaccia we have ever eaten in Italy, and that is saying a lot!  Camogli is one of our favorite seaside Ligurian towns.  Even without the charm of Camogli, this focacceria would be worth the visit.  The focaccia here is incredible.  They also offer delicious pastries and other baked goods.

Ligurians typically eat focaccia for breakfast (plus throughout the rest of the day!), so perhaps you want to visit here in the morning, when it is fresh.

Cervo:
Le Nereidi

Le Nereidi is a restaurant that we have usually very much enjoyed.  They have excellent pizza and pasta dishes.  However, if you go off season, that is during the winter, they don't make pizza and the choices are more limited.   They will always have local fish dishes.

Via alla Foce, 21, Cervo (good parking very near the sea).

Fried Calamari at La Bella Vista

Il Negozietto del Gelato

Wonderful gelateria/pasticceria two blocks from the beach in San Bartolomeo al Mare, the town that is just five minutes from our mills at Borgata Tre Molini.  This gelateria always has a wonderful selection of gelati.  Except, that they are not always open.  Generally, this shop is only open from April through September.  If you happen to be in the area during those months, grab a gelato, and stroll down to the beach to enjoy it by the sea!

Via della Resistenza 15/17, San Bartolomeo al Mare.

Open daily 10:30 am - 11:30 pm.

Imperia: Ristorante il Melograno

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Imperia.  They have very good pastas, pizzas, and other Ligurian dishes.

Via Des Geneys 12, Imperia

Imperia: Gelateria Crema di Gelato

Piazza Dante 24, Imperia.  Open daily 9 am - midnight.
