Our wonderful tower, in the heart of Umbria, "The Green Heart of Italy," had its beginnings during the tumultous times of the wars between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. In 1252, the year the first stones for the tower were laid, there were mercenary soldiers trampling the country, stealing and plundering whereever they chose. Many castles and forts were built at this time, for the protection of the people, their livestock, and their posessions. See the Wikipedia article, Guelphs_and_Ghibellines
for further information about this difficult time in the history of the Italian penninsula.

The tower can sleep up to eight people in three bedrooms, plus a sofa sleeper in the living area on the top floor. A small kitchen functions well for cooking. There is convenient parking at the base of the tower. The price for one week at the tower if $700 USD, plus $100 cleaning. We ask that you schedule this so that Daniela and marino, who take care of this wonderful old treasure, have at least a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to go in and clean between guests.
